A Different Kind of Counseling Experience
My life has been a wild and often very difficult ride. But I’m grateful for it. Those experiences humbled me and taught me a lot about what it means to be human.
If you’re here, there’s a good chance you’ve had your own complicated journey. I certainly have.
Over the years, I’ve sat on the client side of the couch many times. Some therapy experiences were “meh,” and some were truly life-changing. That contrast is part of what led me to make a major career transition at age 41 to pursue a counseling degree and eventually begin practicing as a therapist.
I want to help people. And I want counseling to be a meaningful and genuinely helpful experience.
Who I Work With
I work with adults and couples navigating personal, relational, and life direction challenges.
Many individuals and couples come to therapy with concerns that sound something like this:
• My partner and I can’t seem to get on the same page.
• We keep having the same argument over and over.
• I’m not sure this relationship is healthy for me.
• My family was a mess… or still is.
• I feel stuck in patterns I don’t understand.
• I’m tired of feeling anxious or hopeless.
• I hate my job, but I don’t know what else I’d do.
• The stress of work is wearing me down.
• I want to grow as a leader but don’t know where to start.
• I need to heal from painful experiences with religion.
If any of this sounds familiar, you’re not alone.
What It’s Like to Work With Me
Counseling is fundamentally a helping relationship.
That relationship doesn’t need to be stiff, boring, or overly clinical. It should be authentic, safe, insightful — and sometimes even enjoyable.
Yes, we will talk about serious things. The work we do matters. But I believe we can still bring humanity, humor, and real conversation into the room.
In our sessions, we work together to:
• better understand the patterns shaping your life
• make sense of past experiences
• explore relationship dynamics and attachment patterns
• identify what may be keeping you stuck
• build flexibility and new ways of responding to challenges
The goal is to help you move from feeling stuck to creating meaningful movement in your life and relationships.
My Approach to Therapy
I believe counseling should consider your whole life — your thoughts, emotions, relationships, behaviors, and even what is happening in your body and brain.
All of these pieces work together to tell the story of where you’ve been and where you are now.
But the future? That’s something we can work on together.
My approach is grounded in curiosity, humility, and respect for each person’s experience. I don’t assume I know what it’s like to walk in your shoes. What I do bring is training, experience, and a genuine desire to understand your story and help you create movement where things may feel stuck.
I also integrate EMDR therapy to help individuals process difficult experiences and trauma in a way that reduces their emotional impact and supports long-term healing.
When working with couples, I draw from The Gottman Method, a research-based approach that helps partners improve communication, rebuild trust, and strengthen emotional connection. Couples therapy focuses on understanding patterns of conflict, learning new ways of communicating, and creating a relationship that feels more supportive and secure for both partners.
Values That Guide My Work
A few core values shape how I practice therapy.
Humility
What I know from education and experience does not make me better than anyone else. If anything, it reminds me how much I still have to learn from the people I work with.
Reliable and Accessible Support
I commit to responding to every client or potential client within 24 hours, even if it’s simply to acknowledge the message and follow up soon. Your time and attention matter.
People First
I’m in this work because I genuinely love people. Period.
It’s Your Journey
I am only a small part of your journey. Your growth will come primarily from the work you do, both in session and outside of it.
